Quarterly roundup June 2018 *Spoiler Free* Now including 200% more movies and tv shows.

I'll write a post every 3 months which'll contain the thoughts I had right after watching an anime, movie or tv show. As such it should be taken as mere thoughts that I had directly after watching it. It's NOT a review, more of a final impression if you will.
Anyway It'll contain whatever I watched during those 3 months with little if any regard to release season or current trends.
You can find my complete list of anime I've watched and their ratings on kitsu.io/users/APasz/library. There is no list for western tv/movies unfortunately. If anyone has a good suggestion, let me know.
So without further ado.
English title「Japanese title」*=unofficial.

Cars (2006)
Been rewatching a lot of movies as of late. Cars being a favourite of mine.
For a 2006 film the animation is pretty good but it's a Pixar creation so that's kinda to be expected.

Cars 2 (2011)
It feels like a sequel. If there is a moral to the story, I don't know what it is but hey, at least it's a amusing 1.75 hours. And as far as I could tell the little bit of Japanese was correct which is always appreciated. Seriously you wouldn't believe how often pure gibberish is passed off as correct, especially considering the budget of some of these movies.

Cars 3 (2017)
Generally it's an all around improvement on Cars 2, especially technically during high detail scenes [like crashes]. The story has a good moral and is well done.

Criminal Minds Season 1-6
I've been a fan of CM for as long as I can remember.
I'd recommend it to anyone who has an interest in criminology and investigator shows.

Iron Man 3 (2013)
5 years late but hey, better late than never right?
I liked the first 2 and the third is pretty much more of same which in this case isn't so bad.
There are a lot of references that I didn't get, probably because I haven't watched pretty much any Marvel movies other than Civil War, Deadpool, the original Spider-Man and original Fantastic Four.
And apparently all these movies are connected or something.

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
I like many others loved the first movie and have been patiently awaiting a sequel but of course I'm always late to the show.
Anyway, as with the first the cinematography is excellent. Music and fx were good.
And as with last time, I am awaiting chapter 3.

Men in Black 1 and 2 (1997 - 2002)
There are some things that you grow up with that you just can't help but look back on with rose tinted glasses. While the first doesn't need much tinting, the second movie needs a fair chunk.
One of the major criticism of the second is that it's recycled a lot from the first movie. Personally that's what I think sequels are meant to be so I'm going to say it, I liked the second as much as the first.

The Boss Baby (2017)
Quite a fun and adorable little movie with somewhat unique art style.
There are little things that everyone young and old will find amusing at the very least.
All in all a good movie that doesn't break any new ground but be a pleasant experience nonetheless.

The Secret Life of Pets (2016)
Cute and funny. Gotta say, animation is just getting better and better everyday.
There are 3 main things that are difficult for computers to render correctly. Water, Fur/Hair and Reflections. While there aren't a ton of reflections, there was a lot of fur and water which both looked pretty good even at streaming quality. The wet fur was also of particular note.

UP (2009)
It's a Pixar film so of course it's great. Basically if you like the Pixar formula then you'll probably like this movie. It's the same with Disney.

Westworld S1
Now this show, this is good. Surprising only had a single person recommend it to me.
I would definitely consider it a masterpiece of modern TV.
Other than a few scene inconsistencies here and there I only really have a couple nitpicks.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys pretty much anything related to AI, psychology and deep interwoven stories.

Date A Live「デート-ア-ライブ」.ep1
Someone recently gave me a handful of movies and anime. This was one of the anime.
Watched most of the first episode and just felt it was a little too bs.

"Hey look", "Those people know writing and stuff", "Listen to them"... These are impressions, not reviews. Titles completed during this period 2020-07-01 to 2020-09-30 2012 (2009) As long as you turn off your brain it's a good fodder movie. The fx really hasn't held up though. 3 Days to Kill (2014) Not great, well not even good. Actually it's below average. Kevin Costner does an alright job but he's just one man, and just one man can't save this film. Sound and Fx are average at best. Avatar (2009) If there is anything going for Avatar, it's that even 11 years later it's still quite visually stunning which isn't to say its vfx are anything to write home about these days. Acting is good I suppose. Sound and music on the other hand, it's done well, like really well. Glory (1989) With Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Andre Braugher, how could it not be a great film? Not really familiar with US Civil War specifics so c...

Quarterly roundup March 2022 *Spoiler Free*

" To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day. "   These are impressions, not reviews. Look for someone much more qualified for those. Titles completed during this period 2022-01-01 to 2022-03-31   47 Ronin [2013]  I had heard mixed but generally positive things about this film. Always been a fan of Reanu, and Hiroyuki so finally got around to watching and I like it. Don't think it's as great as The Last Samurai but it's up there for me. Could've been a bit longer though, to flesh out the witch a bit more, and possibly some of the other 47 Ronin. IMHO if you are interested by feudal Japan or the legend of the 47 Ronin, then consider this a must-watch.   Ender's Game [2014]  Went into this one with only my brothers recommendation. It's interesting to say the least.   Forrest Gump [1994] Everyone knows this movie so need I say more?   Saving Private Ryan [1998]   Again, ...

Time and Date formats.

I wanted to give my take on the debate about which date and time format is the best. The are 3 main formats for dates and 2 for time. D/M/Y, Y/M/D, M/D/Y, 12 and 24 hour time. There are other formats but these are the main ones. So why do I use Y/M/D 24h in a country that uses D/M/Y 12h? It's simple really but first, lets all agree that M/D/Y makes no dam sense. Anyway, moving on, D/M/Y and Y/M/D Makes sense because it goes from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest and they can be easily swapped between but the biggest reason is due to how a computer counts. The most commonly used counting system is the hexadecimal (edit: sorry, I meant base36, hexadecimal is base 16) system which is from of 0 to Z. So 0, 1... 9, A, B... Z and symbols have their own block but that varies bit as to which character-encoding scheme is used. If you have a set of files that all start with the date and you sort by name. Under the D/M/Y system you get, 01-01-2010 01-02-2010 01-10-2009...
